The Mamanwa, also known as Conking, Mamaw, Amamanusa, and Mamaua, reside in Agusan del Norte, specifically in Kitcharao and Santiago.
The community’s way of life is based on slash-and-burn farming on small plots of land, with very little wet rice agriculture. They continue to rely on food collection. The bow and arrow, which were once their primary and native mode of hunting, are no longer used. To some extent, the village relies on patron-client connections with adjacent towns to provide its basic needs. Residences are small, and houses are organized in a circle. In their tradition, houses are without walls.
