TIRURAY

Tiruray also knowns as Teduray, Teguray, Tidulay are sothern ethnic group that can be found mostly in Maguindanao Province, mainly in the tiowns of Upi, South upi, Dinaig and Ampatuan. They can also be found in other provinces such as Sultan Kudarat and North Cotabato. There are known three subgroups of the Tiruray depending on the orientation – riverine, coastal and mountain. 

Historically, the economy is based on the dry cultivation supplemented by food gathering, hunting, and fishing. The principal food is glutinous rice and corn. Other crops cultivated include corn, sweet potatoes, sugar cane, cassava, taro, and tobacco.
